I had read great reviews on the 4.3 Vancore Padauk and decided that it was the instrument we would purchase. | "I was the first musician in Romania to get professional level accreditation as a vibraphone player. I have been playing on a vibe I had found sitting in a dusty corner of the community cultural center in the city of Deva, Hunedoara County since the mid 1980s. This "thing" was made of alumininum and thoroughly out of tune. After the development of the Internet in Romania, I was able to search on the net for vibes and get in touch with jazz musicians around the world to learn more about instruments and shops that might sell vibraphones. I badly needed a new instrument. With a little help from a friend in California and lots of help and understanding from The Mallet Shop in Florida, after 20 years I was finally able to fulfill a lifetime dream: to own a vibraphone that was functional and not out of tune. |

| "My son, Chris, has been studying snare and timpani under the lead percussionist from the US Air Force Band, Aubrey Adams. Chris shows great promise in being one of the tops in this field even though he is only in 8th grade. I decided to help advance his musical career by purchasing him a set of timpani. When I learned how much timpani cost, I decided to search for a used set. His teacher provided a set of recommendations on the absolute necessities in purchasing timpani. I looked around and could not find anything on the used market that met those specifications. Fortunately, I contacted The Mallet Shop. Shannon was able to work with me to find the perfect set for a reasonable price. The timpani arrived, well boxed, and in good condition. One of the wheels however had dropped off during shipping. I sent Mallet Shop one of the existing wheels and they sent me back a duplicate without hesitation. My son has played these timpani at our church services on Sundays and has received praise from the music directory and from many members of the congregation on how good they've sounded. | "I first discovered The Mallet Shop two years ago while searching for a reasonably priced vibe for a recording project I was involved in. I'd already decided to try and avoid the various drawbacks and stress involved in having to bid on one on Ebay and other auction sites. I did a search online and found The Mallet Shop. I found several nice vibes, including a Yamaha on consignment through The Mallet Shop. The price was certainly within reason, but it was still out of my price range at that point in time. I wrote Shannon, mostly on a whim, and proposed a layaway payment-plan in which I could pay for the instrument over a three month period while he kept the vibraphone. I was both surprised and delighted to find a friendly e-mail that same night from Shannon stating that he would see what he could work out and to then get back in touch the following day with specifics. To make a long story short, in a little under three months I was putting together this vibraphone in my front room. It was a very positive experience, and Shannon kept it both painless and worry-free throughout the entire transaction. I also felt peace of mind in knowing that I was dealing with a professional working musician who was familiar and had studied the equipment he was selling. Unlike with the auctions, there were no ambiguities regarding condition or functionality. Shannon even followed up after the arrival of the vibe to make sure I was satisfied. Shannon worked with me and helped make possible the vibraphone I still own and use today. I'm a big fan of The Mallet Shop.
